Our Mission & Story

Navigating Balance was founded by Tessa Pillay, a registered dietitian with a background in clinical and outpatient care in South Africa. After joining the yachting industry and working on a busy charter boat, she recognised the lack of specialised nutrition and fitness support for yacht crew. Tessa's own experiences with binge eating and the stressors of yachting, combined with feedback from other crew members facing similar struggles, inspired her to create Navigating Balance.

At Navigating Balance, we know that achieving lasting health requires unwavering support and significant mindset work before any physical changes can take place. Our mission is to equip yacht crew with the latest nutrition science and mindset strategies to truly transform how they view their health and bodies. This isn’t about a quick fix; it’s a one-time investment in lifelong well-being and vitality.

Our mission at Navigating Balance is to promote the importance of science-based nutrition & fitness for yacht crew through hyper-personalised coaching that supports positive mindset shifts, sustainable fat loss, body recomposition and successful habit building , even within the demands of yachting life. We aim to empower crew to take control of their health, build connections, and thrive both physically and mentally as they navigate the high seas.
